Oral zinc has a real but modest effect on acne in the trial data, likely through a mild anti-inflammatory action. It's cheap enough that trying it costs little, but it was never going to be the thing that clears you.
Don't take it as a substitute for a topical active. If it does anything, you'll notice a small, gradual improvement over months, not a turnaround.
