Adapalene (topical retinoid)

Adapalene is a topical retinoid, the same drug class as tretinoin, now available over the counter at a strength that still does real work. It speeds up skin cell turnover, clearing the blockages that become breakouts and softening marks over time.

Same early trade-off as any retinoid: skin gets drier and sometimes worse before it turns, usually in the first few weeks. Start a few nights a week, not every night, and build up.
